The Te Huia service is an inter-regional service for moving passengers between the Waikato and Auckland. Travel within Auckland is serviced by Auckland Transport’s Metro network.

In Auckland, Te Huia stops at Papakura, Puhinui and terminates at The Strand.
If central Auckland is your final destination, you can either ride Te Huia to The Strand station and walk/connect to AT buses in the city -  OR transfer to the AT Metro Southern Line rail service at Papakura Station.

Transferring at Papakura

Te Huia arrives at Papakura station on platform one where you will need to transfer onto an adjacent platform to catch the AT Metro Southern Line.

Transferring at Puhinui

The northbound Te Huia service arrives at Puhinui on platform one. If you have an AT HOP card, you'll need to tag onto the AT Metro network using one of the machines on platform. Then you will be able to board the next departing Southern or Eastern Line service from the same platform. If you don't have an AT HOP card, you will need to purchase one or a paper ticket from the customer service centre upstairs on the concourse.

The southbound Te Huia service will depart from platform two. If you have an AT HOP card, you'll need to tag off the AT Metro network with your AT HOP card using one of the machines on platform. Then you will be able to board Te Huia. If you had a paper ticket, there is no need to tag off.

How to get to Britomart Station

For northbound passengers, we recommend transferring to the AT Metro Southern Line from either Papakura or Puhinui Station for the most direct connection.

From The Strand, the Britomart Station is a 21 minute walk, or there are several bus options available with the AT bus network.

Please use the AT website and enter your start point and destination into the FREE Journey Planner to see all the travel options available to you in Auckland.
