About Bee Card

Bee Card is the electronic smartcard used for Te Huia fares.

To pay for your train fare using a Bee Card, you'll need to present your Bee Card to the train manager when they make their way through the carriages after each station.

Simply hold your Bee Card to the reader and the fare will be deducted from the credit on your card. It's as easy as that!

Bee Card is also accepted by BUSIT services across Waikato, and eight other regional councils across New Zealand.

How do I get a Bee Card?

Bee Cards are available to purchase and 'top up' onboard Te Huia from the cafe, as well as the BUSIT Counter at the Hamilton Transport Centre.
(See full list of retailers below)

Bee Cards are $5.00 each plus a minimum top up of $5. We recommend allowing at least $48.20 for your first return trip with Te Huia.*

*This is the cost of 1x Bee Card + 1x return adult trips from Frankton to the Stand.

How do I transfer to Auckland Transport (AT)?

If you'd like to use AT buses, trains or ferries while in Auckland city, you can access the best fares with an AT Hop card, which can also be purchased from the cafe onboard Te Huia. Find more information about AT services here.

Contactless payments are now available with AT - read more here.

Are you eligible for the SuperGold or Community Connect concession? Applications are required and you'll need to register your Bee Card first. Find more information on the Bee Card website here.
